Long before Bilbo’s involvement, the Dwarf thrór becomes king as to the lonely mountain and brings an era of prosperity out to his kin till the arrival of smaug the dragon. smaug destroys the nearby city of dale before driving the dwarves out as to the mountain and taking their hoard of gold. thrór’s grandson thorin sees king thranduil and his wood-elves on any nearby hillside and is dismayed when they actually take their leave as an alternative to aid his folks, leading to thorin’s everlasting hatred of elves.
